User Import Supports a Wider Range of Fields

What is it?

User import now supports a wider range of fields, including teams, seats, managers, job titles, and custom user properties. This helps you configure users in bulk without manual follow-up steps after import.

Why does it matter?

For admins managing large or distributed teams, the previous import experience only covered basic fields like name and email. Teams, permissions, and custom properties had to be assigned manually afterwards, which was time-consuming and error-prone.

With this update, you can handle your full user setup in a single import, reducing the back-and-forth on large reorganization projects.

How does it work?

Go to Settings > Users, then select Import Users. Download the updated import spreadsheet template and add columns for any fields you want to configure. Supported fields include:

  • - First and last name (parsed from a full name field, with error handling)
  • - Job title
  • - Manager
  • - Teams
  • - Seat assignment (seat assignments will be labeled Assigned by import in the UI)
  • - Permission sets (not included on import, but completed in UI during import process)
  • - Custom user properties

After uploading, enhanced validation will flag errors before the import completes.

Who gets it?

  • - Core fields (name, job title, manager) are available for all HubSpot accounts.
  • - Team assignment and permission set/seat assignment are available for accounts on Professional tier and above.
  • - Custom user properties are available for Enterprise accounts.
