What is it?

Autocapture automatically tracks clicks on buttons, links, menu items, and other interactive elements across your website without any setup or coding. Once your HubSpot tracking code is installed, it captures 100% of visitor interactions and lets you promote the most valuable ones into verified events for use across HubSpot's tools.

How does it work?

Autocapture activates automatically with your existing HubSpot tracking code—no additional setup required. It captures all meaningful clicks while filtering out irrelevant interactions like clicks on empty spaces or plain text.

Finding and verifying events:

  • Navigate to Data Management > Event Management > Explorer.
  • Review captured interactions with details including element names, URLs, descriptions, CSS selectors, last-seen dates, and occurrence counts.
  • Click Create verified event in the visualizer for interactions you want to track.
  • Customize the event name and tracking criteria in the visualizer interface.
  • Set scope to cover single pages, all pages, or specific domains and save.

Once verified, events immediately become available across all HubSpot tools including timelines, lists, workflows, lead scoring, reporting, journeys, and datasets. Autocapture backfills up to 90 days of historical data or 50,000 recent occurrences, whichever is smaller, so your verified events include comprehensive historical context.
