Workflow Actions available in all workflow types

What is it?

For a selection of actions, you can now:

  1. access them in all workflow types
  2. use the action to act on associated objects in your workflow
  3. use the action to act on custom data sources, that are not enrolled or associated objects

 

Why does it matter?

Today, workflows actions are often limited to one object type or acting on the object of that workflow type. For example: the Add to Segment action in a Deal workflow only enables you to add deals to a Segment. But, often times customers are trying to act on a variety of objects within one workflow, and today they have to create multiple workflows to solve for one need.

With these updates, you can now access actions like "Add to Ads Audience" in all workflow types, not just Contact workflows. So in a company workflow, you could add the enrolled company's associated contact to an ads audience.

You can also now act on additional object types than just the enrolled object. For example, in a Deal workflow, instead of just being limited to adding that deal to a segment using the Add to Segment action, you can now add its associated contacts to a segment to keep track of those contacts with deals at a certain stage.

 

How does it work?

In some actions, you can now select the record you would like the action to act on. For example, in the Add to Static Segment action, you can choose the enrolled record of the workflow, or any of its associated records:

In some actions, like Delete Contact, you can now use it any workflow type, not just Contact workflows, and can select which set of associated contacts you'd like to delete:

 

 

And in some actions you can now act on custom data sources, beyond just the enrolled object or its associations. To do this:

  1. When choosing the record, select "More Data" at the bottom of the dropdown
  2. Select "Add Record" in the side panel
  3. Select the object type
  4. Configure the way you would like to find the record. You can choose between "has the same value as" or "is equal to".
  5. Save your data source and select it in the action
