App Certification Lifecycle Status & Renewal Update

What is it?

This update introduces enhanced visual indicators for App Certification statuses in the developer portal, aligned with the new recertification policy. Under this policy, certified apps must renew their certification every two years to maintain their status.

To support this change, you will now see clearer, actionable status indicators throughout the certification lifecycle, including new states like “Expiring Soon” and “Under Review.” You can also view their app’s certification expiration date to better plan for recertification and avoid lapses in status.

Why does it matter?

This update helps you understand where your apps stand in the certification lifecycle. The improved visibility reduces the risk of losing certification due to missed deadlines and ensures ongoing compliance with HubSpot’s standards.

How does it work?

New Certification & Recertification Experience

App certification expiration is now automated. If a renewal is not submitted before the expiration date, the certification status and badge will be revoked.

New Certification status, expiration date, and action prompts are now displayed in the developer portal.

Statuses include:

• Not Certified (with eligibility info or CTAs)
• Certification Under Review (with cancel option)
• Certified
• Expiring Soon (with renewal reminders and expiration date)
• Tooltips provide additional guidance for each status.
  
  

New Notifications

You will receive automated reminders:

• 3 months before expiration
• 1 month before expiration
• 2 weeks before expiration
• On the expiration date, if no renewal has been submitted

Who gets it?

These updates apply to all app providers with listed apps in the HubSpot App Marketplace.
