What is it?

Description

From October 1, Meta will begin charging for service-based WhatsApp messages, which were previously free.

What does this mean for HubSpot customers?

There will be no immediate change or additional cost for customers on October 1. HubSpot will provide a 60-day delay in charging new rates through December 1

WhatsApp message bundle changes: from December 1st will include both marketing and service messages, with the monthly limit increased from 1,000 to 2,000 messages at the same price point. Customers are charged for all WhatsApp messages following Meta's updated pricing, with both types counting toward the purchased limit.

Why does it matter?

Meta is now charging for WhatsApp service templated messages. This change ensures pricing alignment with Meta, avoids contract disruptions, and aims to minimise workflow disruption for customers.

How does it work?

  • Continue to purchase WhatsApp message bundles from HubSpot as before, but now both marketing and service messages count toward the 2,000-message limit per bundle for the same regional price
    • No action is required to enable the new pricing; the change is applied automatically.
    • Pro tip: consider the impact of the service messages volume on their overall monthly limits from December 1st.
  • Those who exceed the new combined limit will receive in-app and email notifications prompting purchase of additional message packs.
