Dynamic AI Email Personalization

What is it?

Dynamic AI Email enables hyper-personalization in marketing email by using AI to automatically create unique, personalized email copy for each individual recipient. Instead of sending the same generic email to your entire list, AI crafts personalized email body content tailored specifically to each contact at send time using the information stored on their contact records in your CRM.

Why does it matter?

Today, email marketers struggle to unlock the true potential of scaled personalization. With inboxes busier than ever, you need to focus on sending the most relevant content to your customers. By leveraging AI and the information in your HubSpot CRM, you can achieve true AI hyper-personalization where every marketing email is tailor-made for each recipient, fostering stronger customer relationships and driving higher engagement. Every marketing email sent can now be crafted individually (1:1) for each recipient.

How does it work?

To include Dynamic AI Personalization in your Marketing Email:

  • In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Marketing Email.
  • Click the name of a drafted drag and drop email, or click Create email in the top right to create a new email.
  • Add or edit an existing text module in your Email and click Dynamic to create a dynamic text token.

  • Create your prompt: On the left side of the modal in the open Prompt box, instead of writing static text, provide an AI prompt for your email body.
  • Leverage contact data: Your prompt can reference any contact or company property from your CRM - name, company name, industry, and more.
  • For example, instead of writing "Hi there, check out our new product," your AI prompt might be: "Write a friendly greeting using the contact's first name and mention how our new product solves challenges specific to their industry." At the time of send, AI will create unique, relevant content for each recipient based on their known name & industry on their contact record.

  • Add fallback content: Provide backup text in the When there's no info show this field that will be used if the recipient does not have values in the properties used in the prompt. This will ensure every recipient always receives a message.
  • Select whether you want to include an AI disclaimer in the footer of your email. This is a best practice for Marketing Emails that contain AI-generated content that has not been reviewed by a human.
  • Preview and review: Test your Dynamic Personalization by previewing how the content appears for at least five different contacts to ensure quality and relevance.

  • (Optional) Refine and iterate: Go back to adjust your prompt based on the preview results, then test again with different contacts until you're satisfied with the personalized output.

  • Click Insert token to add the Dynamic text token into your Email body.

  • (Optional) Preview and review: See how your Dynamic token will display content within the context of your entire email. You can use the Preview as a contact space or Send a Test Email while previewing as a contact.
  • Under Send to, select your sending method as Through an automation.
  • Publish your email and add it to a workflow.
  • AI generates unique content when sending: When you send the email, AI will create personalised content for each recipient based on your prompt, and the most up-to date information on their contact record for a truly 1:1 Email Marketing experience.

After Send

  • You will be able to view the final Marketing Email sent to each contact by navigating to their contact record and clicking View sent email.
  • This will be available to view for the two weeks following your Marketing Email send.

Note:

  • Dynamic AI Email Personalization is currently available for Automated Email Sends (via a workflow) only. Other email types like Blog RSS/Resubscription/Single Send API Emails are not supported.
  • Each Email can only contain one Dynamic token.
  • Dynamic tokens are currently only available in the Email body (and not available in the Subject Line or Preview Text fields).
  • Dynamic Tokens will automatically avail of information set up in your Brand Identity, as well as already having context on the rest of your Marketing Email.
  • Admins can configure generative AI features in account management settings. Dynamic Personalization requires the Give users access to generative AI tools and features and CRM data toggles enabled.
  • Dynamic Personalization will return outputs in the Language specified in the Setup tab inside the Email Editor.
